Iraqi Journal of Environmental Sciences (IJES)

The Iraqi Journal of Environmental Sciences (IJES) is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality research in environmental sciences. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts that are not under consideration elsewhere.

  1. Types of Manuscripts

IJES accepts:

  • Original Research Articles (full-length papers)
  • Review Articles (comprehensive analyses)
  • Short Communications (brief findings)
  • Technical Notes (methods, tools, models)
  • Case Studies (applied environmental research)

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the journal’s online system:

Language

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English
  • Authors are encouraged to use professional language editing services if needed

Formatting Requirements

  • Use Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Palatinoe Linotype, size 10
  • Line spacing: 0.95.
  • Margins: 0.5×75 cm on all sides.
  • Page numbers: top right

Structure of Manuscript

Manuscripts should include:

  1. Title Page
    • Title (concise and informative)
    • Author names and affiliations
    • Corresponding author email
  2. Abstract
    • 250–300 words
    • No references or abbreviations
  3. Keywords
    • 3–5 keywords
  4. Main Text
    • Introduction
    • Materials and Methods
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion
  5. Acknowledgments (optional)
  6. References (IEEE style)
  1. Figures and Tables
  • Must be numbered consecutively
  • Include clear captions
  • High-resolution images (≥300 dpi)
  • Tables should be editable (not images)
  1. Units and Symbols
  • Use SI units
  • Define all abbreviations at first use
  1. References (IEEE Style)
  • Use numbered citations [1], [2], …
  • References must include:
    • Author(s)
    • Title
    • Journal/Publisher
    • Year
    • DOI
  1. Ethical Guidelines

Authors must comply with:

  • No plagiarism (checked via Turnitin)
  • No duplicate submission
  • Proper citation of all sources
  • Ethical approval for human/animal studies
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest
  1. Peer Review Process
  • Double-blind review
  • Minimum of two reviewers
  • Decision within 2–6 weeks
